2015 IZIP E3 Zuma

IZIP's E3 Zuma pairs retro styling with their modern e-bike technology for a powerful electric cruiser that gets you where you need to go in comfort. Featuring an easy-to-recharge battery incorporated into the rear rack and a motor hidden in the rear wheel, the sturdy E3 Zuma offers IZIP's PAS (pedal assist) mode for maximum range, and their TAG (Twist & Go) throttle for additional power whenever you need it. Either mode you choose, the 7-speed drivetrain and mechanical disc brakes add to the control. You'll love the fun, laid-back ride, the cargo capacity of the rear rack, and the energy-efficient, earth-friendly transportation.

    Comments:

I was riding an '11 Trek 7.5FX with a Bionx power system and was looking to upgrade. I wanted a new bike with both pedal assist and a throttle at a reasonable price and found this in IZIP E3 Zuma. The battery is in the seat post and this helps to balance the bike front to rear with a low center of gravity. The throttle control on the right grip is an excellent feature for adding power as needed, or use the three pedal assist settings as needed for a little help, more or a whole lot on hills. The trick is to match the pedal assist setting with one of the seven gears to give a strong but comfortable pedaling cadence. These bikes come in several color combinations and are reasonably priced. The disc brakes feel strong. The frame is heavy duty, somewhere between a mountain bike and a cruiser. This bike has a nice look to it, too. I used my own gel seat from a past bicycle. The left side control panel is easy to use and settings may be changed without taking your hand off the grip. This bike does not have a regenerative capability as my old Bionx did, nor is there a speedometer or odometer built in, so you will have to add your own. The big tires help dampen some road shock, but I wish there was a second area for another water bottle cage to attach to. Overall this is a well thought out, nice looking design that performs very well. I imagine that this bike will go 35-40 miles on flat roads for touring where lower power settings are used, whereas for rides with hills, the various settings do flatten the hills nicely and make the rides much nicer but use more power. Yes, I highly recommend this bike. With my lower back and hip issues, this bike has made longer rides possible again and very enjoyable.
