Performance Testing


Your time is precious, so make sure that the time you spend in the saddle is as efficient as possible. You can't train efficiently without first knowing where you stand fitness-wise.  The best way to do this is to find your Lactate Threshold (LT).  LT is the max steady-state effort that you can maintain without a significant increase in blood lactate levels.  LT is the best predictor of potential race performance.  Once LT is identified, we can build a custom training plan to improve.  LT should be tested regularly to determine a training plan's effectiveness.  In The Spin Lab, we use two methods to identify LT:  A Lactate Threshold Test and a Power Ramp Test.  Schedule an appointment, and start training efficiently today.

Lactate Threshold Test

The Lactate Threshold Test measures and records power output, heart-rate, and increases in blood-lactate levels over a period of time.

Power Ramp Test

Another common method used to accurately identifying LT.  Although this test does not measure blood-lactate accumulation, the results are highly consistant with the Lactate Threshold Test.
